How to Convert a PDF to an Editable PowerPoint

By Betsan · Updated 31 October 2026 · 4 min read

A PDF is a picture of a page, not a set of slides, so converting it never gives a perfect copy. You can choose between two results: slides with real text you can change, or slides that look exactly like the PDF but are pictures. This guide shows which to pick and what to check afterwards.

Convert the PDF

  1. Open PDF to PowerPoint and choose the file. For a long PDF, type a page range.
  2. Pick Editable or Exact look. For Editable, keep the page design as the slide background to keep colours, logos and pictures.
  3. Click "Convert to PowerPoint", then "Download .pptx".

Check each slide

  • Scanned pages, rotated pages and pages with sideways text stay as pictures, and the result tells you how many.
  • Tables become separate text boxes, not PowerPoint tables.
  • Lines keep the PDF line breaks, so press Enter yourself if you add words.
  • For Tamil and other Indian-language text, open one slide first. PDFs that store letters without a text value are left in the picture.

If you only need small changes

To fix a typo, add a signature or hide a detail, Edit PDF is quicker than converting: change the PDF and keep it as a PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my converted PowerPoint look different?

Slides in PowerPoint do not use the same text layout as a PDF. The text boxes sit where the text was, but the fonts are matched to Arial, Times New Roman or Courier New, so widths differ. Use Exact look when the look matters more than editing.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to editable slides?

Not yet. A scan is a photo of a page and needs OCR (text recognition), which BA Convert does not offer. The scanned pages are kept as pictures.

Is the PDF sent to a server?

No. The pages are read and the PowerPoint file is built in your browser, so private documents stay on your device.
