Frequently asked questions
How many words is a page?
About 500 words for a single-spaced page and 250 words for a double-spaced page, using a 12-point font and normal margins. Headings, short paragraphs and larger fonts reduce this. For an exact page count of a Word file, use Word Doc Stats.
How long does it take to read 1000 words?
About 5 minutes at an average silent reading speed of 200 to 250 words per minute, and about 7 to 8 minutes to read aloud or present. The reading and speaking times above update as you type.
Does it count Tamil words correctly?
Yes. Many counters split Tamil and Hindi words at vowel signs (like ி or ா) and give the wrong number. This counter treats letters and their vowel signs as one word, so "தமிழ் மொழி" counts as 2 words, as it should.
What is the character limit on X?
A post on X (Twitter) can have 280 characters on a free account. X counts every link as 23 characters whatever its length, and some emoji and CJK characters as 2, so its own counter may differ slightly from the count here. Premium accounts can post longer text.
