How to resize your TNPSC photo and signature
Choose what you are preparing (for example "Photo"). The size and KB limits are already set for TNPSC; change them if your notification differs.
Click "Choose your photo" (or "Choose your signature") and pick a clear photo or scan. Move the box so it frames your face or your signature.
Click "Make photo", check the green tick for the KB range, then download the file and upload it on the TNPSC portal.
When to use the TNPSC resizer
- TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR). Upload a correct photo and signature once and reuse them for later applications.
- Group 4 (VAO), Group 2 and Group 1. Update your OTR photo before applying if it is older than the notification allows.
- Departmental tests. Half-yearly and departmental exam instructions use the same small photo and signature sizes.
Before you upload: check the TNPSC notification
These are the sizes the tool is preset to for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (One Time Registration and exam applications). They come from recent notifications as reported by several sources, which do not always agree. Always confirm them in the official notification on www.tnpsc.gov.in before you upload, and change the numbers in the tool if yours are different.
- Photo: JPG, 30 to 40 KB, 165 x 125 pixels.
- Signature: JPG, 20 to 30 KB, 80 x 125 pixels.
- TNPSC instructions have listed the photo as 165 x 125 pixels (30 to 40 KB) and the signature as 80 x 125 pixels (20 to 30 KB). Older forms used 20 to 50 KB, so check your notification.
- Use a recent passport-size photo, taken within the last 3 months, with a light blue or white background.
Why TNPSC files must not be too small
TNPSC gives a minimum as well as a maximum size (for example 30 to 40 KB for the photo). A 125 x 165 pixel JPG is naturally only a few KB, so the tool saves it at high quality and, if it is still under the minimum, adds a harmless comment block to the file so it passes the size check. The picture itself is not changed.
Limits and privacy
- One image at a time, 25MB each. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF.
- Output is always JPG (JPEG), the format exam portals accept.
- Each upload type keeps its own photo and settings, so you can prepare all of them on one page and download them one by one.
- Your photo and signature are processed in your browser and never sent to BA Convert.
Frequently asked questions
What is the TNPSC photo size in KB?
TNPSC instructions have listed the photo as 165 x 125 pixels and between 30 KB and 40 KB, in JPG, taken within the last three months with a light background. Older forms used 20 to 50 KB, so check your notification. The photo preset here makes a 125 pixel wide by 165 pixel high JPG within 30 to 40 KB.
What is the TNPSC signature size?
The signature has been listed as 80 x 125 pixels and between 20 KB and 30 KB in JPG. The preset makes a 125 by 80 pixel image, whitens the paper and keeps the file in that range. Sign in your usual running signature with a dark pen.
Why was my TNPSC photo rejected?
TNPSC rejects photos that are too old, unclear, taken with a cap or dark glasses, or outside the KB range, including files that are too small. Use a recent photo against a light wall, frame your face inside the guide, and make sure the result shows a green tick for the 30 to 40 KB range.
Can I do this on my phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone browser, choose the photo from your gallery, frame it and tap "Make photo", then repeat for the signature. Download both files and upload them on the TNPSC OTR page. No app or account is needed.
