Crop Image Online

Crop image online by dragging a box or typing exact pixels: square, 16:9, 4:5, passport size or a circle for profile pictures, with rotate and flip built in.

Your files are processed on your device and never sent to a server.

How to use Image Crop

  1. Click "Choose an image" and pick a JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF photo.

  2. Pick a ratio (for example 1:1 Square or Passport 35x45 mm), then drag the box or type X, Y, Width and Height. Tick "Circle crop" for a round profile picture.

  3. Choose JPG, PNG or WebP and click "Crop and download".

When to use Image Crop

  • Profile pictures. Square or circle crops for WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Passport and exam photos. Crop to the 35 x 45 mm shape first, then resize or compress to the size the form asks for.
  • Social media posts. 4:5 for Instagram portrait, 9:16 for stories and Reels, 16:9 for YouTube and presentations.
  • Removing clutter. Cut out the edges of a photo or a screenshot before sharing it.

Limits and privacy

  • One image at a time, 25MB each. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF.
  • Cropping keeps the original pixels inside the box. JPG and WebP are re-saved at the quality you choose; PNG is lossless.
  • Circle crops are saved as PNG so the corners stay transparent.
  • Your image is cropped in the browser and never sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

How do I crop an image to a square?

Choose your image and click the "1:1 Square" ratio. A square box appears in the middle; drag it over the part you want and resize it with the round corner handles, which keep it square. Then click "Crop and download". For an exact size, type the width and height in pixels.

How do I crop a photo for passport size?

Pick the "Passport 35x45 mm" ratio, then move and resize the box so your head and shoulders fill most of it, with a little space above your head. Crop and download, then set the final size with the Image Resizer or the Passport Photo Maker, which also makes print sheets.

Can I crop an image into a circle?

Yes. Tick "Circle crop". The box switches to a square with a round preview, and the result is saved as a PNG with transparent corners, ready for profile pictures and stickers. If an app needs a JPG, the corners will turn white.

Does cropping reduce quality?

Cropping itself does not reduce the quality of the part you keep; it only removes the rest. Saving as JPG or WebP applies compression again, so use 90% or higher quality, or save as PNG for no further loss. The cropped image has fewer pixels, so it may look softer if you enlarge it later.

Which formats can I crop?

You can open JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF images, and save the crop as JPG, PNG or WebP. For iPhone HEIC photos, convert them with HEIC to JPG first.
