How to resize your SSC photo and signature
Choose what you are preparing (for example "Signature"). The size and KB limits are already set for SSC; change them if your notification differs.
Click "Choose your photo" (or "Choose your signature") and pick a clear photo or scan. Move the box so it frames your face or your signature.
Click "Make signature", check the green tick for the KB range, then download the file and upload it on the SSC portal.
When to use the SSC resizer
- SSC CGL and CHSL. The signature upload is the step that most often fails because of size or blur.
- SSC MTS, GD and Stenographer. The same signature rules apply across most SSC exams.
- Correction windows. If your form was flagged for a bad signature, prepare a cleaner one quickly.
- Other forms that ask for an SSC-style photo. The photo preset gives a 3.5 x 4.5 cm JPG between 20 and 50 KB.
Before you upload: check the SSC notification
These are the sizes the tool is preset to for Staff Selection Commission (CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD and others). They come from recent notifications as reported by several sources, which do not always agree. Always confirm them in the official notification on ssc.gov.in before you upload, and change the numbers in the tool if yours are different.
- Signature: JPG, 10 to 20 KB, about 6.0 x 2.0 cm.
- Photo (if the form asks for an upload): JPG, 20 to 50 KB, 3.5 x 4.5 cm.
- Recent SSC applications capture your photograph live through the webcam or the mySSC app during the form, so usually only the signature is uploaded as a file.
- The signature section of recent notices mentions 6.0 x 2.0 cm and, in one annexure, 4.0 x 2.0 cm. Follow the size shown on the upload screen of the portal.
Limits and privacy
- One image at a time, 25MB each. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF.
- Output is always JPG (JPEG), the format exam portals accept.
- Each upload type keeps its own photo and settings, so you can prepare all of them on one page and download them one by one.
- Your photo and signature are processed in your browser and never sent to BA Convert.
Frequently asked questions
What is the SSC photo size in KB?
Recent SSC applications capture your photograph live through a webcam or the mySSC app, so in most cases you do not upload a photo file. Where a photo upload is asked for, forms have used a 3.5 x 4.5 cm JPG of 20 to 50 KB, which is the preset here. Confirm in your notification.
What is the SSC signature size?
Recent SSC notices ask for a JPG signature between 10 and 20 KB. The size has been given as 6.0 x 2.0 cm in one place and 4.0 x 2.0 cm in an annexure, so follow the size shown on the upload screen. The preset makes a 280 x 94 pixel JPG and keeps it inside 10 to 20 KB.
Why was my SSC photo rejected?
Common reasons are a blurred or dark image, a cap or sunglasses, a busy background, the face being too small, or the file falling outside the KB range. For the signature, rejection usually comes from capital letters, a faint pen, a grey background or a file under 10 KB. The clean-up option and the KB check here help with the last three.
Can I do this on my phone?
Yes. Take a photo of your signature on white paper in good light, open this page in Chrome or Safari, choose the photo, frame the signature, tap "Make signature" and download it. The file goes to your Downloads or Files, ready for the SSC portal.
