How to use Image Resizer

  1. Pick a preset (for example "Passport photo India" or "Exam photo 200 x 230 px"), or choose a unit and type the width and height.

  2. Click "Choose images" and add up to 50 photos.

  3. Click "Resize", check the final pixel size and KB shown for each file, then download.

When to use Image Resizer

  • Exam and job forms. Resize a photo to 200 x 230 pixels or 3.5 x 4.5 cm and set a maximum size such as 50KB in one go.
  • Passport and visa photos. Use 35 x 45 mm at 300 DPI for India, or 600 x 600 px for a US visa.
  • Instagram, WhatsApp and YouTube. Presets for square and portrait posts, stories, WhatsApp DP and thumbnails.
  • Printing at a set size. Resize in cm or inches and the DPI is saved in the file so it prints at that size.
  • Website images. Shrink 4000 px phone photos to 1600 px or 1920 px so pages load faster.

Limits and privacy

  • Up to 50 images at once, 25MB each. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF.
  • With "Keep aspect ratio" on, only the width (or height) is used and the other side follows, so nothing is stretched.
  • With it off, choose "Fit and pad" (adds a plain border), "Fill and crop" (trims the edges) or "Stretch".
  • Making an image larger than the original adds no real detail and will look soft.
  • Images are resized by your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize a photo to 35x45 mm for passport?

Choose the "Passport photo India (35 x 45 mm)" preset. It sets the size in millimetres at 300 DPI (413 x 531 pixels) and uses "Fill and crop" so the photo fills the frame without stretching. Add your photo, click Resize and download. For a guided crop with a face outline and print sheets, use the Passport Photo Maker.

How do I resize an image to a specific KB?

Set the dimensions you need, choose JPG or WebP, and type the limit in "Max file size (KB)", for example 20 or 50. The tool keeps your chosen dimensions and lowers the quality until the file fits. If it cannot fit at that size, it tells you, and you can choose smaller dimensions or use the Image Compressor, which can also shrink dimensions automatically.

What is the difference between resize and compress?

Resizing changes the number of pixels, the width and height of the image. Compressing keeps the dimensions but stores them more efficiently, which lowers the file size in KB. Forms often specify both, for example "200 x 230 pixels and under 50KB", so this resizer lets you set dimensions and a KB limit together.

Will resizing make my photo blurry?

Making a photo smaller keeps it sharp because the browser uses high-quality smoothing. Making it larger than the original cannot add detail, so a small photo enlarged a lot will look soft. For print, aim for at least 300 DPI at the final size: a 10 x 15 cm print needs about 1200 x 1800 pixels.

Can I resize many images at once?

Yes. You can add up to 50 images, up to 25MB each, and they all get the same size settings. Each result shows its final dimensions and file size, and "Download all as ZIP" saves them together.

What size should a WhatsApp DP or Instagram post be?

A WhatsApp profile photo displays as a circle, so use a square image; 500 x 500 pixels is plenty. For Instagram, use 1080 x 1080 for square posts, 1080 x 1350 for portrait posts and 1080 x 1920 for stories and Reels. All of these are available as presets.
