Edit PDF Online - Add Text, Sign and Fill Forms

Edit a PDF in your browser: add text, images and your signature, highlight and draw, black out private details, fill form fields, and rotate, reorder, delete or add pages. Your file stays on your device.

Your files are processed on your device and never sent to a server.

How to use Edit PDF

  1. Click "Choose a PDF". If it has a password, enter it to open the file for editing.

  2. Pick a tool from the toolbar and click on the page: Text, Highlight, Draw, Shapes, Image, Signature, Whiteout, Redact or Edit text. Use the page strip to rotate, move, delete or add pages.

  3. Click "Download edited PDF" to save the result. Your original file is not changed.

When to use Edit PDF

  • Signing and filling forms. Add your signature, fill in the form fields and type into forms that have no fields.
  • Hiding private details before sharing. Black out account numbers, addresses or ID numbers so they are removed from the file.
  • Fixing a typo or a date. Replace a line of text, or cover it and type the new text.
  • Tidying a document. Rotate scanned pages, delete extra ones, reorder them or add a blank page.

What each tool does

  • Text: type anywhere on the page. Latin letters, numbers and common symbols are saved as real PDF text. Other scripts, such as Tamil and Hindi, and the rupee sign are saved as a picture of the text, so they look right but cannot be selected.
  • Highlight, Draw and Shapes: mark up the page. These stay as separate PDF marks and the page text stays selectable.
  • Image and Signature: add a picture or draw your signature with a mouse, finger or stylus.
  • Whiteout and Redact: cover part of a page. To make sure the covered text is really gone, the page is saved as a picture of the page. It looks the same but its text can no longer be selected or searched.
  • Edit text: click a line of text to change it. The old line is covered and the page is saved as a picture, the same as Whiteout. Tamil lines from most PDFs open with the right letters. If the PDF does not store a line as real text, the tool says so; use Whiteout over it, then Text.
  • Fill form fields: type into the fields of a fillable PDF from the Form panel. You can flatten the form so the answers cannot be changed.
  • Pages: rotate, move, delete or add a blank page. Rotate a page before you add edits to it.

Is it safe to redact here?

  • A black box alone only hides text, it does not delete it. Redact and Whiteout replace the whole page with a picture that has the box burned in, so the hidden text is not left in the file.
  • Deleted pages are not copied into the new file.
  • Always open the downloaded file and try to select the covered text before you share it.

Limits and privacy

  • One PDF at a time, up to 100MB and 100 pages.
  • Password-protected PDFs need the password. XFA forms and PDFs that forbid editing are not supported.
  • PDFs are processed in your browser with pdf-lib and pdf.js, which are served from this site. Your file is not sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?

You can replace a line: use Edit text, click the line and type the new words. The old line is covered and the page is saved as a picture, so the new text matches the page but the page is no longer selectable text. PDFs do not store text as editable paragraphs, so reflowing a whole paragraph is not possible here.

Does redaction really remove the text?

Yes. A page with a Redact or Whiteout box is saved as a picture of the page with the box burned in, and the original page is not copied into the new file. Open the result and try to select the covered text to confirm before you share it.

How do I sign a PDF?

Choose Signature, draw your signature, then click the page to place it and drag the corners to resize. You can also add a picture of your signature with the Image tool. This is a drawn signature, not a certificate-based digital signature.

Can I fill a PDF form?

Yes. If the PDF has fillable fields they appear in the Form panel. If it has no fields, use the Text tool and click where the answer should go.

Can I type Tamil, Hindi or other languages?

Yes. Type or paste in any language. Scripts such as Tamil and Hindi are saved as a picture of the text because standard PDF fonts cannot hold them. It looks right but cannot be selected or searched. Edit text can also change an existing Tamil line when the PDF stores it as real text.

Is my PDF sent to a server?

No. The PDF is opened, edited and saved in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for private documents.
