Compress Image to 50KB

Compress image to 50KB for job portals, scholarship and college forms: choose a photo and the tool brings the JPG under 50KB while keeping it as large and clear as possible.

Output format

Your files are processed on your device and never sent to a server.

How to use Compress Image to 50KB

  1. Leave the target at 50 KB, or change it if your form says something like "between 20KB and 50KB" (aim for about 45KB).

  2. Click "Choose images" and add your photo. You can add several, for example a photo and a certificate scan.

  3. Click "Compress" and download the files marked "Under 50 KB".

When to use Compress Image to 50KB

  • Job portals. Recruitment and HR portals often limit profile photos to 50KB.
  • Scholarship forms. National Scholarship Portal style forms and state scholarship sites commonly use a 50KB photo limit.
  • College admissions. University and counselling portals often want a 20KB to 50KB photo.
  • Exam photos with a range. When a form gives a range like 20KB to 50KB, aim for 40KB to 45KB to stay safely inside it.

What 50KB is enough for

At 50KB a JPG can hold a clear passport-style photo at a larger size than the 20KB limit allows, which makes it the most comfortable of the small form limits.

ImageSize that fits under 50KB
Passport-style photoUp to about 600 x 800 px at good quality
SignatureEasily, at any normal size
Certificate or ID card scanAbout 1000 px wide, readable text
Full phone photoNeeds resizing to roughly 1000 px wide

When a form says "minimum 20KB"

Some portals reject files that are too small as well as too large. If your form gives a minimum, set the target near the top of the range, for example 45KB for a 20KB to 50KB range. A result far below the minimum can be fixed by raising the target and compressing again.

Limits and privacy

  • Up to 50 images at once, 25MB each. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF.
  • JPG output by default; WebP is available for websites but many forms reject it.
  • If the target cannot be reached without big quality loss, the tool reduces dimensions. Tick "Keep original dimensions" to stop that.
  • Images are decoded and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab clears everything.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce a photo to 50KB?

Keep the target at 50 KB, choose the photo and click Compress. The tool finds the highest quality that fits under 50KB and only reduces the width and height if quality alone is not enough. The final size and dimensions are shown for each file before you download.

How do I compress a photo to 50KB on mobile?

Open this page in your phone browser, tap "Choose images" and pick the photo from your gallery. Tap Compress, wait for the green tick, then tap Download. No app or signup is needed, and the photo stays on your phone throughout.

Will a 50KB photo be blurry?

Usually not. 50KB is enough for a sharp passport-style photo and for most ID card scans at a readable size. Very detailed or very large photos may lose some fine texture, which you can check with the before and after slider below the file list.

Which forms ask for this size?

Job portals, scholarship forms and college or university admission sites are the most common. Many exam forms also give a 20KB to 50KB range for the photo. Check your own notification, as limits differ between forms and change from year to year.

Are my photos sent to a server?

No. Compression happens in your browser using your device. The photo is not sent to BA Convert or any server, and nothing is stored once you close the page.
