Compress PDF to 100KB
Compress PDF to 100KB for scholarship, exam and college portals: the tool squeezes images first, then lowers resolution if needed, and tells you clearly when the file is under 100KB.
Your files are processed on your device and never sent to a server.
How to use Compress PDF to 100 KB
Click "Choose a PDF" and pick your file. The target is already set to 100 KB; change it if your portal gives a different limit.
Tick "Convert images to grayscale" for scanned black-and-white documents, then click "Compress PDF".
Check the green "Under 100 KB" message and the new size, then click "Download compressed PDF".
When to use Compress PDF to 100 KB
- Scholarship portals. Income, caste and mark sheet uploads are often limited to 100KB each.
- Exam applications. Category and qualification certificates for recruitment forms.
- College admission forms. Transfer certificates, mark sheets and ID proofs.
What fits in 100KB
100KB is tight. A one-page certificate scanned in grayscale at 100 to 150 DPI usually fits with readable text. A colour multi-page scan almost never does, so expect the tool to use grayscale and page images, or to recommend splitting.
Tip: crop scans to the document edges before making the PDF. White margins and table surfaces waste space.
If the PDF will not go under 100 KB
- Split it: use Split PDF to upload the pages as separate files, or remove pages the form does not need.
- Rescan at a lower resolution: 150 DPI in grayscale is enough for most text documents.
- Photograph each page and use JPG to PDF with a maximum PDF size, which handles phone photos well.
- Use grayscale: colour scans of black-and-white pages are often three times larger than they need to be.
Limits and privacy
- First the tool recompresses the images inside the PDF and keeps the text selectable. Only if that is not enough does it turn pages into images (you can switch this off).
- Target: scholarship, exam and college upload portals that cap documents at 100KB.
- One PDF at a time, up to 200MB. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first.
- PDFs are processed in your browser with pdf-lib and pdf.js, which are served from this site. Your file is not sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Frequently asked questions
How do I compress a PDF to 100KB?
Choose the PDF; the target is already 100 KB. Tick grayscale if the document is black and white, and click Compress PDF. The tool first recompresses images and then, if needed, renders pages at lower resolution until the file is under 100KB. Download it when you see the green "Under 100 KB" message.
What if my PDF will not get that small?
Multi-page colour scans often cannot reach 100KB and stay readable. Split the PDF and upload only the pages asked for, rescan in grayscale at 150 DPI, or photograph the page and use JPG to PDF with a 100KB limit. The tool shows the smallest readable version it could make.
Will the text stay readable?
For one or two scanned pages in grayscale, yes in most cases. The tool stops lowering quality at a level where printed text is still readable, rather than producing an unreadable file just to hit the number. Always open the result and zoom in before uploading.
Can I do this on my phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone browser, choose the PDF from Files, Downloads or Google Drive, tap Compress PDF and then download the result. It works without an app or signup.
Is my PDF sent to a server?
No. The compression happens on your phone or computer. Your certificates and ID documents are never sent to BA Convert.
