Frequently asked questions
Does it convert tables?
Yes. HTML tables become GitHub-flavoured Markdown tables with a header row, and column alignment from align or text-align is kept. Cells that span several columns are padded with empty cells so the table stays valid. Very complex tables with merged rows are simplified.
Can I convert a web page?
Yes, by copying it. Open the page, select the content you want, copy it (Ctrl+C), then click "Paste copied page" here. The formatting you copied is converted to Markdown. Fetching a page by its URL is not offered because browsers block that for most websites.
Is my HTML sent anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser as you type or paste. Scripts and styles in the HTML are removed and never run, and nothing you paste or open is sent to a server or saved.
