When to use Passport Photo Maker
- Passport Seva applications. Make the photo at 35 x 45 mm with a white background, and a small file for the online form.
- Visa applications. US visa photos are 2 x 2 inch (600 x 600 px); UK and Schengen visas use 35 x 45 mm.
- Print at home or at a studio. One 4 x 6 inch print holds 8 photos, which costs far less than studio passport photos.
- Bank, SIM and college forms. Stamp-size and passport-size photos for KYC and admission forms.

Tips for an accepted photo
- Face the camera straight on, eyes open, mouth closed, with a neutral expression.
- No glasses (required for US and many other visas), caps or shadows on the face.
- Stand about half a metre in front of a plain white or light grey wall and use daylight from a window in front of you.
- The background whitening is a simple fill: it works on plain walls, not on busy rooms.
Limits and privacy
- One photo at a time, up to 25MB. Sheets are made at 300 DPI with cut lines and are saved as JPG or PDF.
- Print sheets at 100% scale ("actual size"), not "fit to page".
- Your photo is processed in your browser and never sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
What is passport photo size in India?
Indian passport applications use a photo of 35 mm wide by 45 mm high (about 3.5 x 4.5 cm) with a plain white background, where your face takes up most of the height. For online uploads the file is usually kept under about 100 KB. Choose "India passport" here, and confirm the latest rules on the Passport Seva website.
Can I make a passport photo at home?
Yes. Ask someone to take a photo of you against a plain light wall in daylight, at head height, from about one metre away. Make it here, download the print sheet and print it on 4 x 6 inch photo paper at any photo shop or on a home photo printer, at 100% scale. Cut along the dotted lines.
How many photos fit on a 4x6 sheet?
Eight 35 x 45 mm passport photos fit on one 4 x 6 inch print, and six 2 x 2 inch US photos. An A4 sheet holds up to 30 Indian passport photos. You can choose a smaller number if you want fewer copies, and the tool centres them on the sheet.
What background colour is needed?
Most passports and visas, including India and the US, need a plain white or off-white background without shadows or patterns. Tick "Make the background white" to lighten a plain wall. It is a simple fill, so for a busy room retake the photo against a light wall instead.
