Unlock PDF (Remove Password)

Remove password from PDF files you can already open: type the password once and download a copy that opens without it. Works with bank statements, e-Aadhaar and other protected PDFs.

Your files are processed on your device and never sent to a server.

How to use Unlock PDF

  1. Click "Choose a PDF" and pick the password-protected file.

  2. Type the password you normally use to open it.

  3. Click "Unlock PDF" and download the unlocked copy.

When to use Unlock PDF

  • Bank and card statements. Banks send statements protected with a password; remove it once to open the file quickly or upload it to a loan portal.
  • e-Aadhaar and other e-documents. Make a copy that opens without a password for your own records.
  • Before merging or compressing. Most PDF tools cannot change a protected file; unlock it first.
  • Printing at a shop. Print shops cannot open protected files without the password.

Common password formats (general information)

Banks and government services tell you the password format in the email or on their website. Common patterns include the first four letters of your name in capitals plus your date or year of birth, or your PIN code plus year of birth. For e-Aadhaar, UIDAI has used the first four letters of the name in capitals followed by the year of birth. Always check the official instructions; formats change.

Limits and privacy

  • Works with standard PDF passwords: RC4 (40 and 128-bit), AES-128 and AES-256.
  • You must know the password. The tool does not guess or crack passwords. PDFs protected with digital certificates are not supported.
  • One PDF at a time, up to 200MB. PDFs are processed in your browser with pdf-lib and pdf.js, which are served from this site. Your file is not sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove a password from a PDF?

Choose the protected PDF, type its password and click Unlock PDF. The tool decrypts the file in your browser and gives you a copy without the password, which you can download, merge, compress or print like any other PDF. Your original file is not changed.

Can I unlock a PDF without the password?

No. This tool only removes a password you already know. It does not try to guess, crack or bypass passwords. If you have forgotten the password for a bank statement, the bank's email or website usually explains the format, or you can download a new copy from net banking.

Is it legal?

Removing the password from your own document, such as your bank statement or e-Aadhaar, when you know the password is generally fine. Do not unlock documents that belong to someone else or that you are not allowed to share. Once unlocked, store the copy carefully, as anyone who gets it can open it.

Is my PDF sent to a server?

No. Decryption happens in your browser, so your password and your bank or ID documents never leave your device and are never seen by BA Convert.
