How to use Blur Image
Click "Choose an image" and pick your photo.
Choose "Selected areas" and drag boxes over what you want to hide, or choose "Whole image" or "Background". Pick Blur, Pixelate or Black box and set the strength.
Click "Download blurred image".
When to use Blur Image
- Number plates and faces. Hide vehicle numbers and bystanders before posting photos online.
- Documents and screenshots. Cover Aadhaar numbers, bank details, addresses and OTPs before sharing.
- Children's photos. Blur faces of children in school or event photos shared on social media.
- Background blur. Soften a busy background to make the subject stand out.
Limits and privacy
- One image at a time, up to 25MB. The download keeps the original resolution.
- For sensitive information use "Black box" or strong "Pixelate". A light blur on large text can sometimes be partly guessed.
- Your photo is edited in your browser and is never sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
How do I blur a face in a photo?
Choose your photo, keep "Selected areas" mode, and drag a box over each face on the picture. Choose Blur or Pixelate and raise the strength until the face cannot be recognised. Use "Undo last" if a box is wrong. When you are happy, click "Download blurred image".
How do I blur part of an image?
Use "Selected areas" mode and drag a rectangle over each part you want to hide, such as a number plate, an address or a name on a document. You can add as many boxes as you need. Each box gets the effect you choose: blur, pixelate or a solid black box.
How do I blur the background?
Choose "Background (keep centre sharp)". The tool keeps an oval in the middle of the photo sharp and blurs everything around it. Use "Sharp area size" to make the clear area bigger or smaller. This works best when your subject is in the centre of the frame.
Can blurred text be recovered?
Weak blurs and small pixel blocks on large, clear text can sometimes be partly reconstructed or guessed. For passwords, account numbers and ID numbers, use "Black box", which replaces the pixels completely, or a strong pixelate setting. The original pixels are not stored in the downloaded file.
Are my photos sent to a server?
No. Blurring happens in your browser on your own device. The photo, and the information you are hiding, never leave it.
