SSC upload sizes at a glance

ItemFile sizeSizeFormat
Signature10 to 20 KB280 x 94 pxJPG
Photo (if the form asks for an upload)20 to 50 KB276 x 354 pxJPG

Recent SSC applications capture your photograph live through the webcam or the mySSC app during the form, so usually only the signature is uploaded as a file. The signature section of recent notices mentions 6.0 x 2.0 cm and, in one annexure, 4.0 x 2.0 cm. Follow the size shown on the upload screen of the portal.

How to resize your SSC signature

  1. Sign in black or dark blue ink on plain white paper, in running handwriting (not capital letters).
  2. Take a clear photo in good light, straight from above.
  3. Open the SSC Photo and Signature Resizer, choose "Signature" and pick the photo.
  4. Crop tightly around the signature, keep "Make paper white and ink darker" ticked, and download. The tool makes a JPG within the SSC KB range.

Photo rules to follow

  • Recent colour photo, taken within the last 3 months, with a plain light background.
  • Face clearly visible, looking at the camera, without a cap or dark glasses.
  • Recent SSC forms capture a live photo with your webcam or the mySSC app. Sit in front of a plain wall with light on your face.

Frequently asked questions

What if my signature is under 10 KB?

Some portals have a minimum size. The resizer adds invisible padding inside the JPG, without changing the image, so the file reaches the minimum. You can also choose a slightly larger pixel size.

Can I use the same photo for all SSC exams?

Usually yes, as long as it was taken recently and meets the rules in that year's notice. If the form captures a live photo, the uploaded photo may not be needed at all.
